The Culture Crisis Church, 1 Corinthians 4:6 - 13
The Apostle Paul addresses the issues surrounding the Corinthian church; he uses the example of Paul verse Apollos
Paul reminds them that you can’t boast of gifts given to you…you didn’t derive it on your own, it was given to you by God…
- Look at some of the comparisons Paul mentions:
- Apostles were like men sentenced to death; spectacles to the world, angels, and men, v. 9
- Verse 10: Corinthians were wise, Apostles were fools
Corinthians were wise, Apostles were fools
Corinthians were strong, Apostles were weak
Corinthians were held in honor, Apostles held in disrepute
- Verse 11: Apostles were hungry, thirsty, poorly dressed, buffeted, and homeless
- Verse 12: labored w/hands; reviled, persecuted, slandered
This is the opposite of what leaders today aspire
