The Culture Crisis Church, 1 Corinthians 6:1 - 6, Handling Challenging Relationships

A recap of 1 Corinthians 5 and howthe Apostle Paul handled church discipline.

Introduction to 1 Corinthians 6; Paul addresses challenging relationships and instructs the Corinthians not to take their brothers and/or sisters to court to handle their problems. He advises them that the worldy unrighteous court system should not judge the righteous Saints. As Believers, we should be spiritually mature enough to handle civil issues between Believers.

Relationship issues between Believers are handled following Matthew 18:15 - 17

  • Go to your brother/sister privately to reconcile the issue; talk to them before talking to others, v. 15
  • If that doesn't work, bring 1-2 wittnesses with you for a second attempt to reconcile the issue, v. 16
  • Lastly, if you're still not successful, take the issue to the church (Elders) for them to lead the reconciliation effort, v. 17
